I’ve worked on a lot of projects over the years.
Some will make their comeback.
Fantasy and Science Fiction.
I have always loved telling stories. Writing them down can be the hardest part. In 2010 I decided I wanted to write and publish one book every year for ten years. I figured if I succeeded, if nothing else, I’d end up a good writer. I wrote 11, published 9, and then opted to trash them all and start over.
The Missing Books.
I wrote a trilogy first, a challenging place to start. To be honest, it wasn’t good, but no first offering ever is. I continued on with some novellas, and then dove Into the Nanten - a concept project based around a character’s journal. The entries, often illustrated, were published online in real time as he wrote them, enabling my audience to follow along on the adventure day by day. I finished with a few books for a publisher who would end up passing on them - a part of the story of how I wound up hitting rock bottom and, thankfully, coming back to Paris as a result.
I really miss writing in this world I spent a decade creating in. I’ve started making time to go back, to write new things, to revisit and revive the old. I no longer feel the pressure to produce — I just want to make something that will endure.
I can’t wait to get back to it.
We did make a podcast about it.
